Job Summary
Operate computer-controlled process equipment, cookers, and machinery while monitoring control panels, gauges, and evaporation rates to maintain peak operating levels. Oversee the rendering process from raw material bins to finished goods storage, ensuring steady material flow and controlling output to presses. Manage boiler start-ups, operate pollution control systems for air and wastewater, and perform periodic preventative maintenance on all equipment. Monitor machinery continuously to identify and report problems to the manager, maintaining safety as the top priority while keeping work areas clean after each shift.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed
Desired Qualifications
- One year of Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience preferred
- Knowledge of mechanical rendering process preferred
- Chemical manufacturing experience a plus
- Good mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting; skilled in general mechanics and safe operation of equipment
- Basic math skills; ability to compute decimals and percentages
- Basic computer skills
- Good oral and written skills
- Ability to deal with minor problems involving equipment or various situations
