Job Summary
Pass tools to line or network crew members while handling cables, conduit, and heavy materials as directed. Operate heavy equipment such as digger derricks, backhoes, skid steers, or bucket trucks to assist with setting poles and digging anchor holes. Clear right-of-way undergrowth using hand tools or saws, pile debris, and perform general job site clean-up. Position reels of electric cable beside trenches and lay heavy residential underground distribution cables by shoveling fine sand around them. Assist network crew with lowering and raising molten metals to splicers, operate a roto hammer to access vaults, and flag traffic to protect employees and the public. Notify customers of impending service disruptions and drive pickup trucks to job sites or obtain supplies. Requires a Class A CDL, valid driver's license, and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 Year of Prior Equipment operating experience In a related field
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver License
- Must obtain a Class A CDL with Medical Examiner's Card
- Must have ability for frequent travel on needed training requirements and potential for overtime including storm work
- Must be able to work outdoors in diverse terrain and in all weather conditions
- Possesses sight, strength and coordination necessary to safely and effectively operate heavy and light equipment and tools
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must obtain a Class A CDL with Medical Examiner's Card
- Complete OSHA 10hr Safety Training Program within 60 days
- Successful completion of appropriate knowledge and skills examinations
- Compliance with Safety Performance Standards
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- May be Employee Performance Tested to a higher level with testing and verifiable experience
- Completion of Critical review and recommendations from Operations, Safety/Training
