Job Summary
Direct live and recorded newscasts using the Sony ELC production automation system and manage camera robotics, audio consoles, and floor directing. Prepare show rundowns by coding automation cues in iNews and collaborate with producers to ensure talent placement and camera blocking. Oversee master control operations for newscasts, sporting events, and live programming while monitoring output signals for two to four channels to maintain audio, video, and closed captioning quality. Execute breaking news cut-ins, roll breaks, and playlist manipulations for join-in-progress scenarios, ensuring correct feed routing for syndicated and live events. Oversee recording of locally produced, syndicated, and commercial content, transferring media into the automation system and verifying broadcast logs for accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of studio and remote broadcasting technology, including Sony ELC automation, XVS-9000 switcher, Wheatstone audio console, Bitcentral Playout, ISQ Playout of Chyron Mosaic, Power Clips, and Vinten Fusion camera control
- Experience using Evertz Mediator and running master control operations during live newscasts, sporting events and other live programming
- Overseeing the recording of locally produced programs, and the downloading and prepping of syndicated programs
- A minimum of two years' experience directing and/or technical directing on-air for live news programming
- Master Control experience
- Weekends, holidays and overtime are required as needed
