Job Summary

Monitor and control unit operations at the Cherry Point Refinery while maintaining safe operating limits and executing routine, start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures. Troubleshoot operational problems by collecting data, analyzing results, and making process changes to ensure product quality and equipment reliability. Develop and implement isolation plans for maintenance, issue permits, and effectively manage time and priorities with unit foremen. Communicate daily logs, shift relief reports, and other materials to maintain team alignment. Work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, with availability for short-notice overtime.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to work 12-hour-rotating shifts which will include nights, weekends, holidays, and must be available for overtime, including short notice overtime (callouts)
  • Exhibit safe work practices
  • Actively take part in the refinery emergency response team
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment both as a leader and team member
  • Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
  • Physical ability to handle the demands of the job with or without accommodation
  • Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Physical ability to carry items that weigh 25 pounds or more
  • Physical ability to lift items that weigh 50 pounds or more
  • Physical ability to stand or walk on your feet for an extended period
  • Physical ability to work outside in all weather, at all times of the day, any day of the week
  • Physical ability to wear fresh air gear
  • Physical ability to work at heights
  • Physical ability to work in confined spaces
  • Attain a passing score on the Fundamentals of Refining class, before being released into the assigned unit to begin fieldwork
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Obtain or have a valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., TN, H1B status), now or in the future
  • Submit to and pass pre-employment drug testing, which screens for prohibited substances, including marijuana and Cannabinoids (CBD)

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree in Process Technology or related field
  • Military experience
  • Technical experience (such as machinist, instrumentation or electrical)
  • Operator in a refinery, utility or chemical plant
  • General refinery experience
