Job Summary
Operations Support Specialist 4 providing leadership for complex, high-hazard systems in radiation protection. Responsibilities include managing daily tasks for design, construction, startup and operations/maintenance activities; delivering expert opinions on radiation protection and technical issues; advising project design, work control, and construction teams; conducting independent reviews and assessments; interfacing with management and customer representatives; developing and enforcing work standards; coordinating with functional organizations; and supervising senior project personnel. Desired: US Nuclear Navy experience, DOE Plutonium facilities experience, and strong conduct of operations knowledge. Requires eight years relevant experience and five years directly applicable in Radiation Protection and/or work planning in a DOE Cat 2 nuclear facility; 100% on-site in Los Alamos, NM.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to Radiation Protection
- eight (8) years of relevant experience
- five (5) years of directly applicable experience in Radiation Protection and/or work planning in a DOE Cat 2 nuclear facility
- Manages daily tasks required to perform ongoing support of design, construction, startup and/or operations/ maintenance activities of complex high hazard systems or projects
- Renders expert opinions towards Radiation Protection and technical issues
- provides recommendations to project design, work control, and construction teams in specific areas of expertise
- Provides independent reviews and assessments in areas of specialized expertise and provides guidance to project teams in delivering results on projects of complex, high- technology nature
- Interfaces with management personnel and customer representatives
- Develops and enforces work standards, assigns schedules, reviews work quality, communicates goals, objectives, and policies of the organization to subordinates
- Provides leadership for the project team, coordinates with the functional organizations, and supervises senior personnel within the project organization
- US Nuclear Navy experience, DOE Plutonium facility experience, and strong conduct of operations knowledge highly desired
