Job Summary
Supervise a shift of on-air cable operations for Versant networks and streaming events, monitoring satellite, fiber, and terrestrial distribution to maintain 99.999% on-air reliability. Manage daily maintenance events in the NOC, facilitate day-of-air issue resolution across departments, and act as the point of contact for brand leaders to coordinate schedules. Lead operational triaging, develop detailed scheduling plans for live events, and execute transmission tasks including video IP routing and satellite tunings. Serve as the decision-maker for contingency situations and same-day record/turnaround processes while assisting with operational improvement projects. This role requires working any scheduled shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support the 24x7 broadcast environment. Based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, the supervisor leads technical operators for Sports, News, and Entertainment channels, ensuring compelling content reaches global viewing platforms reliably.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ yrs experience in an On-air broadcast environment
- 3+ yrs experience exhibiting overall understanding and knowledge of the television production process, broadcast operations, and news/sports/entertainment technical production requirements
- Experience showing strong computer, communication, and facilitation skills
- Experience in a fast-paced environment requiring troubleshooting and process skills, and exhibiting an ability to effectively lead, prioritize and adapt to changing scenarios
- A track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations
- This position requires the willingness and ability to work any scheduled shift, including nights, both weekend days, and holidays, as well as working overtime on short notice to support the 24x7 on-air broadcast environment
Desired Qualifications
- BA/BS in related field
- 3 yrs experience in leading the execution of live television events
- 3 yrs experience demonstrating the ability to effectively lead, prioritize, energize, and coach others
- Extensive and significant experience, understanding and knowledge of digital broadcast and production technical systems, standards and processes
- Technical experience with cloud based automation, real-time systems, digital video and audio, troubleshooting and test techniques
- Extensive knowledge of digital broadcast and production technical systems, standards and processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic understanding of workplace staffing rules and experience in off-hours scheduling of personnel
