Job Summary

Provide operational leadership to ensure execution of daily tasks including driver deliveries, loading/unloading, and customer service operations. Supervise logistics processes, workforce scheduling, and equipment management while conducting team meetings and safety observations. Manage performance of direct reports through coaching, counseling, and corrective actions up to written warning levels. Interview hourly associates for hiring and maintain accurate records and reports. Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulatory agencies, and site safety strategies to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets. Support continuous improvement efforts and maintain fleet equipment through vendor coordination and preventative maintenance schedules.

  • Ability to supervise drivers
  • Ability to provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce
  • Ability to ensure execution of daily tasks and activities including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, and customer service operations
  • Ability to supervise most processes directly including people, systems, customer needs, equipment, workforce and equipment scheduling
  • Ability to perform performance management of direct reports
  • Ability to make corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level
  • Ability to be involved in the hiring process
  • Ability to attend customer meetings as necessary
  • Ability to establish and sustain that all supervisors and associates are trained and competent
  • Ability to establish and sustain that performance standards are communicated that are specific and measurable
  • Ability to interview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hire
  • Ability to monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards

  • Ability to assist in new associate training
  • Ability to provide relief coverage for operational duties when associates utilize time-off or are absent from the shift
  • Thorough working knowledge of the site's operating systems
  • Ability to ensure operational compliance and correct exception resolution
  • Ability to complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Ability to ensure compliance with financial policies & procedures such as tracking MPG, returns, damages, etc.
  • Understanding of the relationship between decision-making and profitability
  • Ability to closely manage associates' working hours and activities to minimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targets
  • Ability to ensure day-to-day management and associate activities are aligned with the location safety strategy
  • Ability to provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance
  • Ability to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures
  • Ability to conduct safety observations
  • Ability to understand the location-specific customer goals & objectives and work to meet and exceed these expectations daily
  • Ability to ensure the customer knows that we are committed to helping them meet their objectives
  • Ability to determine areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Ability to properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet equipment
  • Ability to work with hourly associates to ensure they understand safe and efficient operation of equipment
  • Ability to work with vendors to ensure equipment is maintained
  • Ability to work with Penske Truck Leasing to ensure schedule of preventative maintenance is complete
