Job Summary
Lead the Logistics Specialist and cold chain hourly teams in securing, compliant, and on-time movement of donor cells and cell therapy products between Sacramento manufacturing sites and transplant centers nationwide. Own end-to-end operational readiness, including vein-to-vein performance monitoring, real-time courier run coordination, and disruption response involving flight rebooking and third-party negotiations. Direct GMP packing, shipper qualification, and chain-of-custody execution while ensuring temperature monitoring and excursion documentation meet regulatory standards. Manage staffing, performance management, and continuous improvement workflows for a two-shift operation, partnering with Manufacturing, Quality, and Clinical teams to triage delivery impacts. Maintain coverage during active runs and shift handoffs to ensure consistent leadership across day and night teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5–7 years of relevant logistics or supply chain experience
- B.S. in biology, life sciences, supply chain, or logistics
- 2+ years of direct people-management experience
- experience including hiring, scheduling, and performance management
- Proven success leading logistics and/or cold chain operations

- Working knowledge of chain-of-custody requirements
- cold chain handling of biological or pharmaceutical materials
- Proficiency in logistics tracking systems or software
- Must have visual acuity of 20/20 (corrected or uncorrected)

- Must be able to meet cleanroom gowning requirements
- Must be able to work at either Orca Bio Sacramento location (3400 Business Dr. or 7910 Metro Air Pkwy)
- Must be able to regularly participate in video-based meetings
- Must be able to work scheduled overtime, weekends, or holidays based on business needs
- Must be able to work as either a day or night Supervisor
- Must be present and available for the team during active runs, handoffs, and coverage crunches
- Must be able to flex their hours to align with their team's rhythm and the demands of the operation

Desired Qualifications
- B.S. in biology, life sciences, supply chain, or logistics preferred
- Cell/gene therapy, biologics, or other time- and temperature-sensitive supply chain leadership
- Managing a 24/7 or multi-shift operation with on-call coverage
- Cold chain qualification and packaging operations (e.g., Credo, dry shippers, temperature monitoring, TrakSYS or equivalent MES/asset systems)
- Knowledge of IATA, DOT, and GMP/cGMP compliance
- experience partnering with Quality on deviations and CAPAs
- Courier / 3PL program management
- Continuous improvement (Kaizen)
- SOP development
