Job Summary
Monitor and supervise all site operations and employees while ensuring equipment is in proper working order. Sustain a productive workforce by screening, selecting, hiring, training, and evaluating personnel required to meet service commitments. Adhere to all wage and hour laws, ensure safe working conditions, and develop an effective preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime and costs. Schedule safety meetings, document attendees, manage inventory of supplies, and operate equipment as necessary. Conform with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies. This role supports GFL's mission to provide environmental solutions that enable communities to be Green For Life.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
- Three (3) or more years experience in the waste industry
- One (1) year supervisory experience
- Combination of education and/or experience
- For Transfer Stations: SWANA certified transfer station operator (within 60 days of hire)
- For Landfills: one (1) year of experience operating horizontal baler and bobcat/forklit
- For Landfills: successful completion of training for certification in the removal of Freon and handling of hazardous materials (i.e. motor oil, lead-acid batteries, PCB's, and CFC's, etc.)
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste and smell

- Ability to work in outdoor environment 70% of the time
- Ability to be exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles
- Ability to occasionally work in high precarious places
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years experience in the waste industry (landfill or transfer operations preferred)
