Job Summary
Supervise the profitable and safe operation of the manufacturing function through plant scheduling, machine loading, and equipment maintenance. Drive continuous improvement to ensure high plant productivity, minimize rejects, and maintain quality standards while managing MRO storerooms and analyzing department performance. Direct an ongoing safety program, handle employee relations in partnership with HR, and implement the annual Site SBO Plan. Evaluate man-hour requirements for large jobs and work with Accounting to attain financial goals. This role requires a three-shift, seven-day-a-week schedule with some travel, reporting to upper management.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience as a supervisor in a metal fabrication environment
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- College Degree or equivalent work experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of IFS or MRP/ERP Systems
- Good computer skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
- Strong leadership skills
- Extensive knowledge of Manufacturing processes
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Lean Daily Management
- Managing for Daily Improvement
- SQDC Board/Hour by Hour (Performance Board)
- Experience Lean Kaizen/Operation Excellence/Continuous Improvement
- Shop Floor Experience
- Experience with kitting operations
- Some travel
- Association with other Valmont facilities
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience managing multiple shifts
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Business/Management or related field
- Formal Lean Certification
- Ability to teach and lead shop floor change initiatives with a cross functional team
