Job Summary
Conduct visible, hands-on leadership for the 24-hour metal distribution operation in Santa Teresa, NM, ensuring safe, efficient, and disciplined execution across all shifts. Align daily priorities with receiving, material handling, storage, processing, staging, packaging, shipping, and fulfillment activity while monitoring order flow, backlog, and schedule adherence. Lead a safety-first culture by conducting regular floor walks, ensuring compliance with standards, and investigating incidents or near misses. Develop supervisors through coaching, one-on-one feedback, and clear communication of business context and operational priorities. Build trust with hourly employees by recognizing performance, addressing issues directly, and fostering an environment where staff feel safe raising concerns. Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time by driving performance in picking, packing, and inventory control. Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and root-cause correction while optimizing asset utilization for cranes, forklifts, and racking. Establish key performance indicators, lead daily operating reviews, and implement continuous improvement actions to close productivity gaps and reduce waste.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressive operations leadership experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years managing supervisors or team leaders
- Experience in distribution, metal service centers, manufacturing, logistics, or industrial operations
- Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, labour-intensive environment
- Strong safety leadership background
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to hold people accountable while maintaining respect and trust
- Comfortable working flexible hours to support a 24-hour operation
- Must be available to support all shifts in a 24-hour operation
- Must be available for evening, night, weekend, or urgent operational support
- Requires regular floor presence in an industrial environment
- Must complete pre-employment drug testing
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in metal distribution, metal processing, copper, aluminum, steel, or industrial materials
- Experience with ERP/WMS systems
- Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, 5S, visual management, or daily management systems
- Experience leading union or non-union hourly teams
- Experience supporting OEM, industrial, or time-sensitive customer requirements
- Experience with cranes, forklifts, racking, heavy material handling, and metal product storage
