Operations Manager - Material Handling

Job Summary
Lead by example while providing direct management oversight of daily operations and personnel in material handling environments. Exercise independent judgment on hiring, discipline, promotions, and performance management while ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, FRA, DOT, and customer requirements. Conduct audits and inspections, identify unsafe conditions, and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement in service quality and operational efficiency. Report and investigate all accidents, injuries, and incidents, ensuring associates are trained and following work instructions. Maintain strong customer relationships and enforce company policies with a safety-first mindset. Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays, traveling occasionally and operating vehicles as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in an industrial or material handling environment
- Valid driver's license (as required for company operations)
- Ability to meet all conditions of employment
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Proven safety-first mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Effective communication and documentation skills
- Comfortable enforcing policies and holding teams accountable
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise
- Ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work on uneven surfaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, twist, and kneel throughout the workday
- Ability to wear required PPE and meet physical requirements of supervised positions
- Ability to operate vehicles, hear and communicate safety instructions, and use computers daily
