Job Summary
The Operations Manager oversees the management and continuous improvement of Harvard University’s Transit operations, ensuring reliable, safe, and customer-focused services across various transportation options. Responsibilities include daily operational management, staff leadership, labor relations, customer service, compliance, and financial administration. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, supervisory experience, and the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively. A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, along with five years of relevant experience, is mandatory, with a preference for candidates with transportation-related knowledge and supervisory skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience
- Supervisory experience
- Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and successfully resolve customer service conflicts required
Desired Qualifications
- Transportation-related experience and a working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), DOT and ADA requirements, and related safety and compliance standards for commercial vehicle operations
Additional Requirements
- Valid MA State Driver’s License required with CDL preferred
- Must be able to remain onsite for extended periods during emergencies, weather events, or major service disruptions
- Must be available to work shifts that start at any hour (24 hours a day)
