Job Summary
Operations & Maintenance Plant Technician responsible for semi-skilled manual work, maintenance, and operating duties at a gas-powered electric generation plant. Key duties include monitoring and inspecting plant equipment (gas turbines, generators, transformers, pumps, switchyard, and related auxiliary equipment), start-up/shut-down of turbines and boilers, diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems, operating heavy machinery and machine shop equipment for precise repairs, and managing field documentation and technical sketches. Emphasis on safety and environmental/NERC compliance, use of LOTO/JSA procedures, and participation in technical and leadership training toward full unit operation. Requires ability to read and interpret prints/specifications and to work with work-management systems and PMs; certifications and licenses as required; POSS and MASS tests completed. Educational preference is an Associate Degree in related fields; relocation is not indicated. Certifications, licenses, and ongoing training are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Power Plant Technologies, or Industrial Engineering Technology (nice to have but not required).
- Must obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and licenses as required.
- Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) and the Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) tests.
- Ability to read, interpret and work from prints and specification.
