Job Summary
Support the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the ERF Transfer Station and wider Energy Recovery Facility by carrying out waste acceptance checks, completing paperwork, and directing waste to appropriate disposal routes. Operate site plant and equipment, including forklift trucks and wheeled bucket loaders, to load and unload vehicles, move materials, and manage waste bins. Assess bin contents, transfer waste between pallets and bins, and perform routine washdown, housekeeping, and basic maintenance activities while managing vehicle movements and traffic flow. Report defects or hazards promptly and assist with wider operational and maintenance tasks. Requires a full UK driving licence, forklift experience, and a strong safety-first mindset. Located in Sheffield, S4 7YX.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience operating yellow plant machinery
- A full, clean UK driving licence
- A strong safety-first mindset
- A good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
- The confidence to report hazards or stop unsafe work
- Experience operating a forklift truck
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work professionally with colleagues, drivers, waste suppliers and supervisors
Desired Qualifications
- A current forklift truck and/or wheeled bucket loader qualification
- Experience within a heavy process, continuous-production, waste incineration or clinical-waste environment
- Basic computer skills
- The ability to learn site software systems
