Operations Engineering Lead

Job Summary
Drive successful delivery of complex, cross-team infrastructure and platform initiatives by coordinating resources and removing blockers. Define technical strategy for DevOps and infrastructure, including production hosting, security perimeters, release pipelines, and observability. Lead the evolution of deployment pipelines and system reliability across monorepos and legacy platforms using CircleCI, NX, and Docker. Oversee Infrastructure as Code practices with Terraform to ensure environments are consistent, auditable, and secure. Manage on-call rotation, triage, escalation, and post-incident reviews while championing security best practices and compliance standards. Coach and mentor a team of 5-7 Engineers, contributing designs and code when necessary to reduce risk. Improve developer experience through local environments, self-service tooling, and documentation. Support capacity planning and cost optimization across AWS cloud environments.

- Define and communicate technical strategy for DevOps and infrastructure
- Ensure the DevOps team works effectively with engineering squads
- Engage with Engineering Leads from other teams
- Foster knowledge sharing, collaborative working
- Improve delivery processes and engineering practices within infrastructure and operations
- Manage technical debt, security obligations, and day-to-day operational responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of deployment pipelines and system reliability
- Guide AWS cloud strategy
- Oversee Infrastructure as Code practices
- Shape monitoring, observability and alerting across the engineering organisation
- Lead incident management practices
- Champion security best practices
- Support capacity planning, cost optimisation, and production readiness
- Coach and mentor Operations Engineers
- Contribute to hiring and raising the bar for future Operations Engineers
