Operations Engineer Sr - Event Analysis

Job Summary

Conduct engineering event analysis by reviewing transmission system, Inverter Based Resources, and Conventional Generation Resources performance during ERCOT power system events. Coordinate with Generation Resources and Transmission owner/operators to obtain, analyze, and review Phasor Measurement Unit and Digital Fault Recorder data. Provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system while developing tools and procedures to monitor system performance. Contribute to ad hoc operational data analysis requests, stakeholder group reporting, and internal and external presentations. Work independently on assignments and projects while interacting professionally with internal and external personnel from individual contributors to senior management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • PE Professional Engineer
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience as a power system engineer or similar type role within the electric utility industry
  • Familiarity with the electric utility industry
  • Experience with power flow software
  • Experience with SCADA, PMU, or DFR data
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Experience querying databases
  • Experience with using SQL
  • Experience coding
  • Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
  • Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence
