Job Summary
Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and life-safety systems in a 24/7 Class-A life science facility. Monitor central plant equipment including chilled water systems, pumps, and cooling towers while performing preventative maintenance per manufacturer standards. Troubleshoot equipment failures, record readings in CMMS, and respond to emergencies such as fire alarms and power interruptions. Escort vendors to ensure compliance and address tenant service requests. Requires strong technical expertise in core trades like HVAC or electrical, with experience in medical or mission-critical facilities preferred. Valid driver's license and EPA certification required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
- 2–5 years commercial building operations experience
- Experience in medical, laboratory, or mission-critical facilities
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
- Frequent walking in large campus-style environments
- Climbing ladders up to 30 feet and working from heights
- Bending, kneeling, stooping, and working overhead
- 24/7 operational facility support
- Shift work including day, evening, and overnight rotations
- Weekend and holiday work
- Participation in on-call rotation for emergency response
Desired Qualifications
- Core trade expertise in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing/Piping, or Central Plant Operations
- Knowledge across all major building systems
- EPA Universal Certification
- SMT, SMA, BOMI, or equivalent certifications
- OSHA training
