Job Summary
Conduct basic janitorial, maintenance, and repair duties for program facilities, including unplugging sinks, filling wall holes, touching up paint, and replacing light bulbs. Clean external areas, disinfect building spaces, and assist staff in preparing rooms for new tenants. Perform basic security duties such as patrolling buildings and grounds while interacting with tenants. This role involves working across various sites in Vancouver, Richmond, Chilliwack, and Surrey as a casual employee. A clear British Columbia Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check is required.
Required Qualifications
- A clear British Columbia Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults and/or children
- Willingness and ability to receive a clearance under the Criminal Record Review Act
- Grade 12
- Certificate in First Aid
- Building Service Worker Certificate
- Recent, related experience of 1 year
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with tenants
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Ability to collaborate with staff team and external services
- Ability to constructively resolve conflict with co-workers, management, and external services
- Demonstrates understanding of oppression and marginalization as related to homeless individuals

- Lived experience of mental health/substance use/homelessness
