Job Summary
Operations Controller responsible for managing the financial operations of the plant, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting; development and maintenance of standard costing models for raw materials, labor, and overhead; analysis of production costs and implementation of cost-saving measures; coordination with production and operations teams to support continuous improvement; preparation and presentation of cost reports, KPI metrics, and labor/material variances to senior management; leadership of annual budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing costs; overseeing inventory valuation and ensuring GAAP compliance; collaboration with corporate accounting on financial close and external audits; seeks to improve processes and foster a collaborative, innovative team culture. Skills emphasized include financial analytics, cost accounting, ERP proficiency, Excel modeling, variance analysis, budgeting/forecasting, KPI reporting, and strong communication and leadership abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience within a food manufacturing company or division of a corporation
- Proficient in Excel modeling and analytics
- Proficient with ERP systems
- Strong understanding of profit & loss statements, general ledger, standard costing, and cost accounting
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Goal-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Strong project management skills and ability to develop and execute strategic plans
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at staff and leadership levels
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities and limited resources
