Operations & Application Support Engineer - freelance

Job Summary
Ensure operational stability, availability, performance, and security of production systems across all environments by investigating and resolving incidents, service requests, and technical problems. Monitor application and infrastructure health using observability tools to proactively respond to alerts, while executing corrective, preventive, and maintenance activities to ensure service continuity. Support change, release, and deployment activities including validation, rollback planning, and testing, and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and incident records. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevSecOps, Database Administrators, Architects, and operational stakeholders to support middleware, integration platforms, APIs, messaging systems, identity management, and web infrastructure. Work onsite or hybrid in Strasbourg with approximately 40% on-call services, applying strong analytical skills and ITIL knowledge to large-scale projects impacting millions of citizens globally.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IT operations, application support, or systems support, including at least 2 years in an L2 support role
- Strong understanding of ITIL service management processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, Release, and Knowledge Management
- Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix environments, container platforms, and monitoring/observability tools
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and automation practices
- Experience supporting APIs, middleware, integration platforms, identity and access management solutions, or web technologies
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Around 40% on-call services are expected
- Work Arrangement: Onsite/Hybrid in Strasbourg only
Desired Qualifications
- French is an advantage
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL Foundation, Linux Administration, Kubernetes, or equivalent
