Job Summary
Operational Defect Manager responsible for managing the full defect lifecycle from identification and triage to resolution and closure, performing functional analysis to separate genuine defects from test or environment issues, prioritizing defects, assigning resolution tasks, governing defect quality and documentation, coordinating resolution across teams, and monitoring defect KPIs. The role emphasizes defect trend analysis, reporting, and training testers on defect handling, with nice-to-have experience in ISTQB, ERP environments (SAP S/4HANA), ITIL v4, and Agile/Scrum. Collaboration with an international team, commitment to high-quality, stable solutions, and opportunities for continuous learning are highlighted. English proficiency is required.
Required Qualifications
- Managing the full defect lifecycle from identification, classification and triage through to resolution, verification and closure
- Performing functional analysis to distinguish genuine software defects from test case issues, environment problems or configuration gaps
- Managing the prioritised defect list, identifying and escalating highest-impact defects
- Identifying the correct assignees for defect resolution and detecting defect clusters across related areas
- Governing defect quality, ensuring testers raise defects with consistent standards, correct classification and sufficient documentation
- Setting up, coordinating and moderating defect resolution across all parties
- Monitoring defect KPIs (ageing, resolution time, reopen rates, severity distribution) and providing regular defect status reports
- Driving defect trend analysis to identify systemic issues and feed findings back into development and testing improvement
- Providing training and guidance to testers on correct defect handling methodology
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent coordination and communication skills for cross-team defect triage
- Solid experience with defect/issue tracking tools (e.g. ALM, Jira or ServiceNow)
- Good command of written and spoken English
Desired Qualifications
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification
- Experience in ERP-centric environments (e.g. SAP S/4HANA)
- ITIL v4 practitioner: Problem Management, Change Enablement
- Agile/Scrum practitioner
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent coordination and communication skills for cross-team defect triage
- Experience with defect/issue tracking tools (e.g. ALM, Jira or ServiceNow)
- Good command of written and spoken English
