Job Summary
Lead and coordinate 24/7 operations of the NIF’s integrated laser and experimental systems; supervise multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, operators, and technicians; manage planning, scheduling, resources, and facility activities; provide expert guidance to optimize control room performance, system software, and safety processes; maintain direct leadership for on-site operations with readiness for various shifts; ensure compliance with Integrated Safety Program and DOE requirements; requires on-site presence with a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance and a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Science/Engineering, plus substantial related experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and significant related experience
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
- Experience leading a team in a fast-paced, high pressure, multidisciplinary environment
- Expert level knowledge and experience with large-scale, integrated systems operations
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills across technical and scientific personnel
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and execute complex experiments and facility activities
- Experience with safety management systems and incident response
Desired Qualifications
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
- Expert level communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills
- Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field (desirable)
- DOE Q-level security clearance (desirable)
- Significant experience managing and executing an integrated safety management system
