Job Summary
Monitor and supervise all site operations and employees while ensuring equipment is in proper working order. Sustain a productive workforce by screening, hiring, training, and evaluating personnel. Adhere to wage and hour laws, ensure safe working conditions, and develop a preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime and costs. Schedule safety meetings, document attendees, and manage inventory of supplies. Operate equipment as necessary and maintain all required records. Conform with federal, state, and local laws and company policies. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. This role requires a high school diploma, three years of waste industry experience, and supervisory experience. Candidates must possess specific certifications for transfer stations or landfill operations, including hazardous material handling training. Work outdoors 70% of the time in varying weather conditions while lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
- Three (3) or more years experience in the waste industry
- One (1) year supervisory experience
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste and smell
- Close vision

- Work in outdoor environment 70% of the time
- Exposure to loud noise

Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years experience in the waste industry (landfill or transfer operations preferred)
- One (1) year supervisory experience
- Combination of education and/or experience
- For Transfer Stations: SWANA certified transfer station operator (within 60 days of hire)
- For Landfills: One (1) year of experience operating horizontal baler and bobcat/forklift
- For Landfills: Successfully complete training for certification in the removal of Freon and handling of hazardous materials (i.e. motor oil, lead-acid batteries, PCB's, and CFC's, etc.)
- Excellent leadership, communication and management skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instruction and procedure manuals, routing reports and correspondence
- Ability to satisfactorily perform all duties required
