Job Summary
Operate a centrally controlled generating unit including boilers, turbines, generators, transformers, pumps, condensers, and emissions-control equipment (FGD and AOD) on a shift basis. Lead and supervise staff to maintain safe, efficient, and economical operation; ensure compliance with operating guides, manuals, and industry standards. Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback; prepare clearance permits; coordinate outages; monitor alarms; assist with troubleshooting; promote continuous improvement; maintain records and reports; ensure environmental compliance and safety; oversee equipment performance and maintenance planning. Roles require strong leadership, familiarity with control-room operations, and adherence to company safety and Equal Employment Opportunity policies.
Required Qualifications
- Four (4) years of Operations experience preferred
- External candidates must have at least four (4) years of operations experience, including control room operating responsibilities at a level equivalent to an Operating Supervisor
- Completion of all requirements for the Equipment Operator (EO) job classification, including all practical demonstrations and knowledge assessments
- For employees with less than (5) years operations experience, completion of Boiler Basic, Boiler Chemistry for Operations, Turbine, and related training
