Operating Room Surgical Technologist

Job Summary
Assist surgeons and nurses with patients, equipment preparation, aseptic technique, and surgical procedures in the operating room. Prepare the operating room by assembling supplies, materials, and instruments, and operate specialized instrumentation. Analyze and anticipate outcomes of surgical interventions for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across complex specialties including General Surgery, ENT, Robotics, Ophthalmology, Complex GYN, Complex Ortho/Spine, Thoracic, and Vascular. Lead service area committees, participate in performance improvement programs, and assist in developing and revising clinical pathways and policies. Monitor supplies to ensure par levels, document all aspects of care, and serve as a clinical resource to resolve interdisciplinary needs and orient new staff. Full-time position with call required.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from a surgical technology program or equivalent job training, which may include military perioperative programs and/or hospital-based training programs
- Two years multispecialty experience with one year in a complex specialty area
- Must be able to function as a clinical expert in two or more complex specialty service lines and have the ability to float to other complex service lines as needed
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs max
- Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs
- Occasional to frequent standing & walking
- Occasional sitting
- Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Shift work
- Travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in Surgical Technology preferred
