Job Summary
Manage daily operations of a patient care department, including forecasting staffing, taking departmental calls, and planning continuity of care while serving as charge nurse and providing direct patient care as needed. Collaborate with physicians, management, and business partners to address strategic initiatives, and participate in interdisciplinary evaluations of programs, processes, and client-centered outcomes. Ensure adequate scheduling and staffing, recruit and retain staff, provide performance feedback, and address issues timely. Adhere to Texas Board of Nursing standards and Memorial Hermann policies to ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors within budgetary specifications. Promote professional growth through mandatory continuing education and skills competency, supporting department goals and acting as a preceptor or mentor to less experienced staff.
Required Qualifications
- Operating Room Experience 3+ years
- Hospital/ In-patient Experience only
- Management experience 2+ years
- Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
- Certified in Basic Life Support
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing required
Desired Qualifications
- Professional certification in clinical area or management preferred
