Job Summary
Perform circulating functions before surgery by preparing the operating environment, assessing the patient, and reviewing medical records to ensure pre-requisites are met. Monitor and communicate patient condition during procedures while controlling traffic and maintaining a sterile field. Execute scrub duties involving instrument preparation, selection, and handling, including performing surgical counts with the circulating nurse. Provide nursing care to a complex, high acuity surgical patient population requiring critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment. Requires ACLS and PALS certification within three months of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program
- State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- 6 months of OR nursing (RN) experience or completion of the UCHealth Fellowship program
- ACLS and PALS within 3 months of hire
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date
- BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire
