Job Summary
Operating Room Flow Manager is responsible for maximizing the efficiency of patient flow by directing the perioperative schedule, coordinating movements from pre-op/ED/inpatient units to the operating room and then to PACU or inpatient units, and collaborating with anesthesia, nursing management, surgeons, and hospital administration to ensure optimal OR utilization with minimal overtime and staffing costs. The role requires direct leadership in a high-volume OR environment (46 operating rooms, extensive scheduling responsibilities) and will involve tracking delays, communicating trends, aligning staffing with surgical cases, maintaining scheduling integrity in the Epic system, and ensuring interdepartmental cooperation to achieve revenue and quality goals. Key duties include directing patient flow, optimizing resource allocation, maintaining high morale, and driving interdisciplinary teamwork and effective communication across departments. Educational requirements include a BSN with prior OR charge nurse experience; a master’s degree in healthcare, operations, or engineering is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree required
- Previous Operating Room Charge Nurse experience required
