Job Summary
Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases; process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, and coupons; weigh and bag purchases; understand check-stand equipment; maintain front-end duties (merchandising, signage, in-store programs); communicate store programs and promotions to customers; model high standards of customer service; comply with security and cash handling procedures; may assist with stocking and department standards; follow safety and sanitation guidelines; travel not specified in description beyond typical store environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- One year of prior retail or related experience preferred
- Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
- Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
- Physical requirements: may lift/move up to 30-50 pounds; stand/walk for extended periods; varied temperatures; outdoor conditions
- Ability to follow PPE and Safety guidelines, food safety, and store policies
