OP Patient Access Representative (Full Time, Days)

Job Summary
Conduct the full scope of patient registration for outpatient and emergency departments, including identifying patients, transcribing orders, verifying insurance, and processing cash collections. Manage patient, account, and claim edit work queues while coordinating with clinical and revenue cycle departments to ensure clean claim submission. Validate provider entries by obtaining medical license numbers, NPI, and UPIN, and oversee Welcome Kiosk and On My Way technology monitoring. Greet and direct patients, enforce visitor policies, and promote MyChart usage. Maintain knowledge of network policies for patient identification and report potential identity theft incidents. Requires cross-training across all locations and regions.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- General computer experience
- Ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly
- Ability to sit or stand up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to frequently use hands/fingers for data entry
- Ability to frequently walk
- Ability to push up to 250 pounds in a wheelchair
- Ability to occasionally carry or lift up to 15 pounds
- Hearing as it relates to normal conversation
- Seeing as it relates to general vision
- Must be open to future possible weekend rotations
- Must be able to occasionally travel between campuses or regional locations
- Must obtain medical license Number, NPI and UPIN via appropriate website for all new provider entries for outpatient services
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate/Degree in health care related field
- Insurance background
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Previous medical administrative experience
- Health care related education courses
- Knowledge of health information system (epic)
