Job Summary

Conduct pre-season parent meetings to communicate participation criteria, schedules, and safety guidelines regarding concussions and substance abuse. Teach and coach in a positive, constructive manner while maintaining detailed practice plans and ensuring athletes are never left unsupervised. Monitor equipment safety, playing surfaces, and performance environments in compliance with KSHSAA and district rules. Provide an environment promoting good sportsmanship and zero tolerance for hazing, while adhering to all board policies and lightning/weather safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Position is a one-year assignment as appointed by the principal
  • Adherence to district guidelines for fundraising
  • Adherence to district guidelines for trips
  • Adherence to district guidelines for money management
  • Adherence to district guidelines for honoring of contracts
  • Adherence to district guidelines for credit card use
  • Adherence to district guidelines for transportation (buses, rental vehicles and school/district owned vehicles)
  • Communication of expectations/criteria for participation
  • Communication of sportsmanship guidelines
  • Communication of practice and game schedules
  • Communication of district guidelines for transportation
  • Communication of insurance
  • Communication of handling of injuries including concussions
  • Communication of parent-coach communication
  • Communication of substance abuse guidelines
  • Communication of lettering guidelines
  • Communication of information regarding the aforementioned bullet
  • Teaching and coaching in a positive and constructive manner
  • Maintaining a professional attitude in all situations
  • Adherence to the district's guiding principles for coaches
  • Providing an environment that promotes good sportsmanship
  • Compliance with and communication to participants/parents of all USD #233 Board policies
  • Communication of the fact that the Student Code of Conduct is in effect during and at all activities
  • Ensuring all team members understand the dangers associated with hazing
  • Ensuring that no initiation or hazing activities take place
  • Monitoring the safety of equipment, playing surfaces, and performance environments
  • Maintaining detailed practice plans
  • Never leaving athletes unsupervised
  • Providing detailed and repeated instruction with regards to the performance of high-risk activities
  • Adherence to the district's lightning and hot weather guidelines
  • Evaluation of injuries and lack of physical conditioning
  • Compliance with all KSHSAA and USD #233 rules and regulations
  • Ensuring participant eligibility
  • Conducting required physical examinations
