Job Summary
Onsite Engineer to serve as the owner’s on-site engineering representative for a multi-year data center construction program. Act as the bridge between Owners, Contractors, and Offsite Design, ensuring design coordination, construction administration, and closeout deliverables. Responsibilities include site observations, field verification, as-built audits, RFI/submittals reviews, managing closeout documentation (design drawings, CAD/BIM models, warranties, O&M materials), support for multiple data center builds, attend commissioning and coordination meetings, liaise between ownership and vendors, and ensure adherence to design intent and project requirements. Requires strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, hands-on field experience, and ability to document and report on progress, QA/QC, and lessons learned. Must be able to work onsite at the data center project in Hickory, NC and travel as needed. Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and data center systems is highly valued.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred but relevant experience also considered
- 5-15 years experience
- EIT or PE license is a plus but not required
- Strong understanding of MEP systems (HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, Boilers, Chillers, Generators, UPS, Switchgear, Electrical Power Distribution)
- Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience a must
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM for design reviews is a plus
- Proficient in construction administration and document management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with Owners, contractors, and engineering teams
