Job Summary
Onsite End User Compute Engineer needed for three-week contract, servicing three client locations in Chesapeake, VA. You will be the primary onsite point of contact during multi-site user and device migration, coordinating with the remote migration architect, ensuring devices progress through the migration process, and validating workstations are joined to the target Active Directory and Microsoft 365 tenant. Role requires ensuring Quest Desktop Update Agent is installed and functioning, escalating stalled/failed agents, and documenting daily progress and resolutions. Must have 4+ years in Active Directory and Windows workstation environments, strong MS 365 user-support experience (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, Intune), and excellent communication skills. Local to Chesapeake, VA with ability to commute to client sites for the full three-week engagement; no relocation included. Contract rate is $70/hour, 1099 contract, onsite with standard hours 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with scheduled cutover windows.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in an Active Directory and Windows workstation environment
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting user login, profile, and access issues
- Comfort navigating Microsoft 365 services at a user support level — Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune-managed devices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to stay calm and professional in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment
- Ability to work independently onsite with guidance provided remotely
