Job Summary
DeVry University seeks an Online Visiting Professor of Cybersecurity to teach undergraduate and graduate students in cybersecurity, information security, and related disciplines. The role involves developing and delivering course syllabi and materials, utilizing online discussions and assignments, modeling clear communication, publishing terminal objectives and evaluation timelines, ensuring exam content aligns with objectives, providing timely feedback, and participating in faculty development. Courses meet once or twice a week for eight weeks, combining face-to-face interaction with technology for an enhanced learning environment. The position emphasizes practitioner-focused instruction, real-world cybersecurity concepts, and the ability to explain complex topics to diverse learners. Pay is per 8-week session and varies by location, with remote options available; benefits are offered for eligible part-time visiting professors.
Required Qualifications
- A doctorate in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field is required, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in cybersecurity, information assurance, network security, digital forensics, or related computing disciplines.
- Three to five years of applied professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, security operations, threat analysis, or digital risk management.
- Demonstrated experience with cybersecurity technologies and practices, including network security, system hardening, vulnerability management, incident response, and security monitoring.
- Industry-recognized certifications or professional credentials relevant to cybersecurity, information assurance, or information security operations.
- Strong subject matter expertise in cybersecurity principles and defensive security practices, combined with effective communication skills and the ability to explain complex security concepts to diverse learners.
- Knowledge of cyber risk management, regulatory and compliance considerations, ethical security practices, and responsible use of security technologies.
- Additional requirements driven by state licensing, institutional policy, or accreditation standards may apply.
- Two to five years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level, preferably in cybersecurity, networking, digital forensics, information assurance, or related computing disciplines.
