Job Summary

Observe each advisee monthly for approximately 2-3 hours in the field and complete observation notes for the NYC Teaching Fellows program. Conduct 3-way meetings between advisees and site supervisors as needed, while convening and facilitating one-on-one meetings monthly. Facilitate bi-weekly conference groups during fall and spring semesters on Wednesday afternoons to support students in integrating theory and practice. Provide academic guidance in accordance with degree requirements and participate in monthly program and advisor meetings. This 1-year, 20% faculty position requires in-person observations throughout New York City and does not qualify for benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, or related field
  • 5 or more years of teaching math to adolescents from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • Experience in public schools
  • Critical orientation to issues of access and equity
  • Experience providing reflective supervision to pre-service or in-service teachers
  • Strong skills in communication, collaboration, and organization
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
