Job Summary
The One-to-One Paraprofessional at TechBoston Academy provides direct service to individual students with disabilities, participating in instructional activities under teacher supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with toileting, personal hygiene, feeding, and behavior management. The role necessitates flexibility and collaboration with teachers, fostering communication with parents, and adapting to the specific needs of assigned students. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, relevant college coursework or certifications, experience with students with disabilities, and ABA training.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Forty-eight (48) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants
- Experience working with a student diagnosed with one or more of the mild to moderate disabilities listed
- Demonstrated experience and ability working with parents/guardians, administrators, teachers, and students
- Demonstrated experience and ability in assisting with team instruction
- Able to be flexible to accommodate the needs of the student and/or parent/guardians
- Trained in ABA
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Fluency in one of BPS' official languages (Spanish, Creole - Cape Verdean, Creole - Haitian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali)
