• •Annual Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (CPI)
• •Annual Core Special Ed training
• •Training in areas of physical development, social/emotional skills, cognitive and communication abilities, and daily living skills
• •Individual training as needed for physical needs
• •Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching skills
• •Ability to handle and relate to emotional and physical challenges
• •Ability to be caring, understanding, patient and friendly towards students
• •Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• •Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community
• •Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook
• •Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and classroom situations
• •Ability to physically manage student behaviors and equipment
• •Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• •Ability and willingness to work in a high demanding, potentially stressful environment while maintaining composure
• •Ability and willingness to complete any necessary training required to successfully perform job responsibilities
• •Ability to follow through with outlined behavioral management plan or instruction programs
• •Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include before- and after-school hours to support student needs
• •Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• •Must be able to stoop and bend to assist with all aspects of student toileting, which may include diapering and lifting on and off the toilet, changing tables and mats, and other specific hygiene needs
• •Must have physical strength, agility, dexterity, acuity, reflexes, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting, and mobility to perform job responsibilities
• •Must be able to assist Special Education students on and off buses
• •Must be able to assist students on field trips
• •Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 90 pounds
• •Must be able to assist Special Education students on and off buses
• •Must be able to facilitate students' use of mobility equipment such as leg braces, walkers, mobile standers and tricycles
• •Must be able to obtain food from the cafeteria, serve food, and feed student or help them feed themselves
• •Must be able to run after students when needed
• •Must be able to assist with movement of students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring and physical intervention)
• •Must be able to work in a moderate to loud noise level environment
