Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in the oncology department, including administering chemotherapy treatments, managing side effects, and performing procedures such as spinal taps and catheter care. Monitor and assess patients' physical and emotional well-being, educate families on treatment processes, and document all interventions accurately in the Cerner electronic medical record system. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans and manage pain through various interventions. Assist with ambulatory surgery center procedures and conduct physical examinations as required. A valid RN license and proficiency in Cerner are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of {location}
- Proficient in using electronic medical record systems, specifically Cerner
- Ability to lift and move patients safely using proper body mechanics
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology nursing preferred
- Experience working with pediatric oncology patients is a plus
