Job Summary
Provide expert pharmacotherapeutic consultation and direct patient care during resuscitations, trauma activations, stroke alerts, and other medical emergencies. Make rapid, evidence-based recommendations on drug selection, dosing, administration, and monitoring while managing complex toxicology cases and leading medication preparation. Interpret medication orders, resolve drug-related problems, and verify medications prepared by other personnel. Educate medical staff on cost-effective, quality pharmaceutical care based on evidence-based medicine and best practices. Participate in assigned committees, ensure clinical pharmacy initiatives comply with regulatory requirements, and precept pharmacy residents, interns, and technicians. Serve as the definitive medication expert in critical situations, collaborating authoritatively with physicians, nurses, and the emergency response team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Residency completion or three (3) years of clinical experience
- Active Texas Pharmacist License in good standing
- Board Certification (e.g. BCOP, BCCP, BCPS) required within 3 years of hire
- BLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
