Job Summary
Train new-hire and job-bid employees on essential job skills, safety practices, and techniques including knife handling and sharpening. Spend time on the production floor observing staff, providing real-time coaching, and retraining when skills or behaviors don't meet expectations. Document training attendance, daily observations, and employee progress with accuracy while assisting with progress reports and job-bid qualification reviews. Collaborate with area supervisors to communicate training needs, participate in M-IQ tier meetings, and lead plant tours to ensure proper PPE use. Rotate to different shifts to support production needs and travel to other facilities for start-up projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2+ years' experience in manufacturing operations
- 6 years of Smithfield manufacturing industry experience (in lieu of High School Diploma or GED)
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bilingual ability
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
- Close vision
- Distance vision
- Ability to adjust focus
