Job Summary
The On-farm Market Systems Development (MSD) Specialist will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of market-based interventions to foster economic recovery and resilience in conflict-affected populations. The role requires expertise in conflict-sensitive market assessments, intervention design, and facilitating access to finance and market linkages. The candidate must possess strong knowledge of market systems and demonstrate a proven ability to engage stakeholders, drive systemic change, and support vulnerable communities. Key responsibilities include conducting market assessments, developing inclusive economic growth interventions, stakeholder coordination, and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in the areas: Economics, Business administration Agriculture (i.e. Plant/Animal Science), Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Agribusiness, Marketing and other related subjects
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working in private sector or other I/NGO in market systems development, private sector engagement, agricultural value chain development, agri-business, or a related field preferably in post-conflict or fragile contexts
- Strong understanding of MSD principles and frameworks
- Proficiency in market analysis, intervention design, and implementation
- Strong understanding of value chain development, access to finance, and business development services
- Proficiency in MEL methodologies
Desired Qualifications
- Experience on increasing on-farm productivity including collaborating with private sector national and international actors to achieve sustainable and scalable solutions for ER-CAP target participants
- Excellent knowledge of Markets Systems Development (M4P) approach and facilitation including coaching, relationship building, communicating
- Experience in designing and implementing conflict-sensitive MSD interventions
- Experience working with vulnerable populations and marginalized groups
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and coordination
