Job Summary
Provide individualized care and supervision to children, establishing a warm, homelike atmosphere focused on their positive growth and development. Supervise daily activities including wake-up, school attendance, meals, and bedtime while monitoring physical well-being, medication dispensing, and adherence to trauma-sensitive practices. Accompany and transport youth to outside activities, appointments, and supervised recreation, ensuring punctual attendance and crisis intervention when necessary. Maintain a hazard-free household by preparing meals according to menus, completing assigned chores, and training residents in independent living skills. Complete all required documentation, logs, and incident reports while participating in treatment planning and supervision meetings. Work a 10-hour flexible shift with a valid NYS driver's license and fire safety certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid NYS driver's license
- Flexibility to work a 10-hour shift based on program needs
- Must obtain a S95 & F-07 fire safety certification within the first 3-months of employment
- 1-year professional childcare experience
- Experience working with youth with serious emotional disturbance
- Experience in working with diverse communities
- Knowledge of multicultural issues including race, class ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, gender expression, etc.
- Proven skills in cooking
- Proven skills in household maintenance
- Proven skills in interpersonal skills
- Proven skills in physical stamina
- Ability to adjust for the unique needs of anyone participating in your activities
- Must be open to trauma informed training
- Must maintain a trauma informed environment
- Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of clients in crisis
- Must demonstrate responsiveness to cultural differences
- Must demonstrate a commitment to the value of cultural competency
