Job Summary
On-Call Tow Operator role responsible for emergency roadside assistance, towing, recovery, and transport services during evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays. Performs light to heavy-duty towing, provides roadside services (lockouts, fuel delivery, jump-starts, tire changes, winch-outs), communicates with customers and dispatchers, documents calls, conducts vehicle inspections, maintains equipment, adheres to DOT regulations and safety procedures, represents the company professionally, and supports community relations. Requires CDL, ability to pass DOT physical, reliability for on-call schedules, and strong customer service and mechanical aptitude.
Required Qualifications
- Must reside within 10 minutes of McPherson
- Must be available to respond during assigned on-call shifts and report to the shop within 15 minutes of dispatch notification
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid CDL with acceptable driving record required
- Ability to pass DOT physical examination and maintain medical certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required certifications and endorsements
- Ability to safely operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work evenings, overnight hours, weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call schedules
- Physical requirements including lifting up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work around traffic and hazardous environments while maintaining safety standards
