Job Summary
Substitute ESOL Instructor provides English as a second language and computer instruction to adult learners in the ESOL Program in an on-call capacity. Uses lesson plans created by the classroom Instructor and is not required to prepare material. Implements student-centered instructional methods and collaborates with workforce-development components to improve clients’ communication and job readiness, referring issues to the Education Manager or Education Program Coordinator. Requires ability to model accurate American English pronunciation and grammar, strong written/verbal/presentation skills, advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and a willingness to support international, refugee, and asylee populations. Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred; TESOL/TEFL certification preferred. Prior ESOL teaching experience with adult learners is desired; bilingual candidates are encouraged. Position is on-call with a hybrid work format in Manchester, NH, and involves occasional evening hours and some travel; visa sponsorship is not provided for this role.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field required
- TESOL/TEOFL Certification preferred
- At least one year of adult ESOL teaching experience preferably with immigrant populations; experience with non-literate learners
