Job Summary
On-Call Recreation Assistant at Job Corps coordinates and directs trainees in leisure-time recreation and leadership activities, assists in organizing non-vocational programs, develops weekly contests and tournaments, supports water-safety programming and fitness instruction, coaches intramural/varsity activities, and ensures compliance with labor standards while cultivating a safe, respectful environment for staff and students.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Arts degree or one year of related experience working with youth
- Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
- CDL with passenger transport endorsement (preferred)
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification
- Knowledge of recreation/non-vocational activities and ability to relate to trainee population
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to operate office equipment and work with facility staff
- Experience with managing youth programs and safety practices
