Job Summary
Perform after-hours and weekend visits, admissions, and telephone triage by directing calls to supervisors or addressing needs immediately per scope of practice. Dispatch field nurses and staff to patient residences, refill prescriptions, order supplies and DME, and coordinate care for terminally ill patients and grieving families. Document all calls, conversations, and outcomes in the call-in software system while providing start-of-shift and end-of-shift reports. Requires current RN licensure, hospice knowledge, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs with frequent travel throughout the Bristol Hospice Service Area.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse
- knowledge of hospice
- current licensure in good standing with the state
- understand the philosophy of hospice concept
- understand needs of the terminally ill
- flexible in work hours
- aptitude of computer data entry
- use of current software systems, such as word processing, spreadsheets and projects
- ability to deal with stressful situations
- grieving families
- demonstrate nursing skills per competency checklist
- willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems
- applicable software programs
- travel throughout the Bristol Hospice Service Area
