Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care on the inpatient unit under MHW II guidance, including admitting and discharging clients, collecting specimens, obtaining vital signs, and assisting with meals. Establish therapeutic relationships, facilitate rehabilitation therapy groups, and participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings. Monitor client behavior, recognize milieu changes, and implement safety protocols to prevent self-harm or aggression. Complete daily documentation, attend community outings, and engage in in-service education. Perform physical tasks involving frequent sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Work an on-call shift with varying days as needed.
Required Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience working with the severely and persistently mentally ill population
- demonstrated ability to perform at a consistently high level as a Mental Health Worker
- Current enrollment in a related school program
- High school graduation or a G.E.D. equivalent
- current CPR certification
- knowledge of the care of the mentally ill
- the ability to interact with nursing personnel, other members of the health care team, patients, family members and visitors
- The ability to read, write and speak English
- Applicant must receive clearance from the Department of Justice
- Shifts Available: On-Call | Shifts and days vary as needed
