Job Summary
On-Call Driver Class 1 responsible for providing coverage for the Heavy-Duty Department during vacations, sick leave, injuries, and other temporary absences. Key duties include completing assigned delivery routes, supporting store deliveries, transfers, and replenishment, loading/unloading freight, securing cargo, completing delivery and return paperwork, communicating delays or issues to supervision, adhering to safety policies and transportation procedures, maintaining a professional, service-focused relationship with stores and DC teams, and assisting with transfer returns and freight movement during coverage periods. Requires a valid Class 1 license with manual transmission, prior driving/delivery experience, ability to operate vehicles safely, adaptability to changing needs, physical ability to lift/move freight, strong attention to safety, and winter/chain-up experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 driver’s license
- MANUAL TRANSMISSION REQUIRED
- Previous delivery or commercial driving experience
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles and follow transportation procedures
- Dependable, flexible, and able to adjust to changing operational needs
- Ability to lift, move, load, and unload freight as required
- Strong safety mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while following direction from the Heavy-Duty Manager
- Winter and chain up experience
