Job Summary
Conduct routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing assigned areas at Texas DOT facilities. Clean and disinfect restrooms, break rooms, offices, hallways, and common areas; empty trash and recycling containers; and replenish restroom supplies. Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply needs to the supervisor. Follow all safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly. Support special cleaning projects or deep cleaning activities as assigned. Perform other related duties as needed. This on-call position requires availability Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 12:30 AM, with hours varying based on operational needs, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Ability to safely operate basic custodial equipment
- Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with staff and visitors
- Attendance is a requirement to be successful in this position
- Availability to work on short notice is required
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in various environmental conditions
